Sandpoint, ID (Amtrak/BNSF) Spokane, Wa (Amtrak) Cheney, Wa (BNSF MOW) Sprauge, Wa (BNSF? abandonded) Ritzville, Wa (museum) Connell, Wa (BNSF MOW) Ellensburg, Wa (privitly owned city buying?) Tenino, Wa (now a museum, moved from it's orginal location to avoid the wrecking ball.) Website: http://www.ci.tenino.wa.us/museum.htm not much on the site.
Frenchtown, MT (thanks, Ken for pointing out the correct location!), now in Alberton, MT several miles west of its former location. Now an antique dealer: Wilsall, MT, about 25 miles north of Livingston, MT. A local farm supply dealer stores its goods on the property: Missoula, MT. A beautiful depot is in the downtown area, easily viewed from I-90. It is just a few blocks from the equally impressive Milwaukee Road station. I think it is currently used by MRL:
Sprague was moved off site. Supposedly a group was restoring it. My contact there passed away, so... I believe that Willbridge was owned by SP&S/OE. It's been a few years, since I'd last seen some of these. Status may be different now. A few additions that come into mind: Hoquiam, WA. (City? Historical society?) Kanaskat, WA. (Third depot. Abandoned. Falling down last I knew.) Issaquah, WA. (Issaquah Historical Society) Snoqualmie Falls, WA. (Owned by (Puget Sound Energy) the power company) Snoqualmie, WA. (Northwest Railway Museum) North Bend, WA, is not an NP depot! Thorp, WA. (Moved, private owner) Toppenish, WA. (The Northern Pacific RY Museum) Naches, WA (On site. Private owner.) Wallace, ID. (Moved. Museum) Paradise, MT. (On site. MRL?) Dixon, MT. (On site. MRL?) Missoula, MT. (On site. MRL?) Hamilton, MT. (On site. MRL?) Ronan, MT. (Second depot in town storefront. Status?) Polson, MT. (Same as Ronan.) Needing to be checked: Kent, WA. and Bellingham, WA Freight House. Boxcab E50
Yes. The NP platted and built at North Yakima. Then convinced the citizens of Yakima to move there. North Yakima became Yakima. And old Yakima became Union Gap. Boxcab E50
Unless I'm mistaken, there is still a NP depot standing empty in Bozeman,MT, and Boxcab sidestepped around a biggy, the station in Livingston, adjacent to the NP maintenance facilities there, now occupied by MRL. The station in Livingston is very similar to the station in Missoula. Sorry...no pictures! There was also a depot at Belgrade, MT till a couple years ago, when it was jacked up and moved to a parking lot a block away where it sat on blocks for quite a while before disappearing to...............??????
Dave- Actually, I didn't get any further east than Missoula. Had to stop there, as my wife rang the dinner bell. Boxcab E50
Kent, WA. is still there. I drive past it almost every day! Kanasket is still there,(on the old line, across the street from the BNSF "metal shack" is now), at the old Palmer Junction.
Kurt- In what condition is Kanaskat? Most folks don't know there were four depots by that name. The first three on the old line. The original wood which burned. It's replacement, a box car depot, and the surviving brick structure. The last on the post- dam construction line, which was demolished years ago. Boxcab E50
Oops....sorry Boxcab, it was actually Hemi that mentioned Wilsall, 25 miles north of Livingston, but didn't mention Livingston. And it's not quite a depot, but the old NP watertower is still standing in Logan MT.
I happened to be in Livingston last year. Because it is still on the MRL, it was impossible to get a whole station pic from the front.
It had a great museum inside hosted by volunteers. They are very proud of their station in Livingston. It even had an HO scale reproduction of the large NP yard and shop back in the day. Present MRL Shops
And of course, whats a railroad museum in Montana without one of these? I highly recommend a visit here. Its a minute north off of I-90. And leave a donation please.
I only posted shots of depots I have seen. I didn't look for the L-ston depot, but now, I gotta make a trip down there! I saw the shops, and when I was there, I was looking for the F45 that was stored behind the shops, as well as the new ACez. Nice pics--I love the Velocipede!
Hey Dan- Wasn't there supposed to be an ex-NP (SLS&E) depot out there somewhere? Was turned into a gas station or similar? Boxcab E50
