yeah, those big curves are grand.... All that in 10 x 10..makes my 16x12 look small, doesnt it?

Gonna have to do some serious reworking on my plan I think.

Don't forget, I live alone and I truly am using part of a mortgage to pay for this. [IMG]

    ok here goes,
Assuming a clock wise travel and counting mainline overpasses....

Here is your passing siding. Going from the part where the train has come out of a curve after the #4 bridge and is about to go under the #3 bridge. Then this long long spur continues on, around a slight bend, till you are about to cross bridge #5.

You could leave that section of foam wider and add a extra track later on too. Put a station there and you have just added a reason for trains to stop there.

Most people think of staging as large yards, but I think even long passing sidings on your main can be considered staging. So long as a train starts some where and ends up somewhere else it's all good. In real life I always see trains sitting in the hole on the moffat line, there is a certain time of day when every freight train has to sit in the hole and wait for the eastbound zephyr to come flying through.

That whole idea of a model railroad emptying out and everything going home is kind of silly. The real railraods always have something else coming down the line.
