I'm trying to extend my stay until Friday, but it's not working. As we get closer, I'll PM folks with my cell, which I promise to bring, along with the charger.
I will be there on the 25th but not until mid afternoon unless i leave at 8 coming in from Cleveland Oh Which makes it about a five hour drive. Alan
Hey guys, Maybe someday of the N Scale convention week we can go out to eat somewhere or something. There is many of restraunts in the area.
I will be there Monday-Sunday; and I've got modules going in the show. I'll be back with my NVNTrak buddies in their loop, but make at least one trip around the RLR to see everyone! Now that I have a Podcast everyone should know what I look like. I'm also down with dinner or whatever else can be arranged; it may be difficult with all the extra fair items. If we do get together I'll have my video camera, maybe we can tape a group shout-out to trainboard I can put on the show later. []
That is me. Im hanging out the Soo Line caboose at Kentucky Railway Museum. Thanks to Tom Granville for the photo!
I will hopefully be at the convention at one point or another. It's going to be a busy week for me that week, and I'm not even working. Thursday I have to get my aunt and uncle from Erlanger(near Covington,KY) down here, then,Friday,my bro gets married,Saturday,we run my relatives back up to Erlanger and then go to Salem,IN for the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series race at Salem Speedway. I'm going to the convention, just don't know when I'll fit it in.
Let me see what I can do. I'll be working DCE, I'm a KSONS member, maybe I could get a CLIPBOARD going for TRAINBOARD members. This would be in REGISTRATION. You could sign in, list dates you will be attending, room #, cell # etc. Having a meal someplace. Let me think about this, anybody like BAR-B-QUE? Go someplace watch trains and eat?
Definitely going! I am really impressed with the professionalism and dedication with which this conference has been organized. There's so much to do, too -- the steam excursion, and so many other activities -- mean that it's going to be fun for my wife, too, who wants to go! And since I'm within 8 hours of driving time, it's a no-brainer! Haven't worked out my schedule yet. Congratulations to the conference organizers. This is really a class act.
Uncle Sam took my convention money. I will concur about the planning of this thing. It appears to have been well thought out, and was marketed aggressively starting over two years ago which to me is key. I really wanted to attend, but then the BN historical society built their convention on the same weekend, so I was already torn, IRS be damned. Like someone else said...if the lotto hits, but otherwise you guys have a good time!
This sounds like a plan for me. I will try to hang around all things N scale starting Tuesday when I get there. I suppose there will be a defacto meeting place shortly after we arrive and become familar with surroundings. We are talking about going around everywhere, but I really want to stay around the convention and meet and greet as much as possible. I'll have my camera, too; just got my 2 GB memory cards. porkypine52: I would be interested in barbecue and railfanning a little, depending on transportation.
Well if ya wanna have a BBQ maybe like a Pitch in dinner at a park near the tracks? Cheaper and probably be fun.
I havent heard nothing else out of this so I guess there is no plans yet? Im really thinking somehting like a Cook out at a park near the tracks or something?
I will place a clipboard for Trainboard and several other forums at registration. (Nice suggestion, Mark!) After you pick up your registration packet look for the Forums table to sign in. We'll post the sign-in sheets on an easel outside of the registration room for the remainder of the show. I'll also print small stickers with the various forum's logos that you can place on your convention badge to help others ID you. As far as specific events for forumites, that will be up to you. We will have several social events for mingling, including the Wednesday evening Welcome Reception at the Galt House, the Friday evening Belle of Louisville Cruise, the Saturday night Banquet and the Sunday morning Breakfast. Check out the website for all the events of the DCE. If there is anything else I can do just let me know.
Paul, Who is volunteering their suite for the after banquet party? The one at the Holiday INN at Chantilly needed some serious cleaning afterwords. There appears to be some sort of open area on the west side of the Galt House in this arial shot. Maybe a meet up there? Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible Martin Myers
