I'm a Lieutenant Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy, currently
stationed at Naval Post Graduate school in Monterey CA. I have about a year left in my masters program for a degree in applied physics, then it is time to go back to a ship.

Very interesting thread. I started out as a computer programmer/systems analyst in 1970, and through several changes in my opportunities and goals, ended up a financial planner. Now retired and loving it.

This hobby certainly draws all kinds of people; for me, that's one of its big attractions.

I worked for 30 years as a mainframe Computer Programmer using IBM equipment starting with the old 1400 series. I worked for various Alabama Banks over this period and retired in 2005. Anyone need any books on COBOL, Assembler, and CICS?
    See ya

Currently finishing my 13th year as a school psychologist. Prior careers include instructional consultant in private facilities serving mentally impaired children and adults, administrator in a 20-bed respite care facility for the mentally impaired, family counselor, behavior specialist at Peoria School of Medicine and in private practice.

I'm also curious about other hobbies RR modelers or railfans might have. I've been teaching martial arts since the 1970s.

Other hobbies/activities of mine include woodworking, gardening, and bicycling. Lately I have been doing mostly the rail modeling and railfan foaming, though.

I also like to check out weird frequencies with my scanner radio.

Other hobbies? Well, yes: taking pictures -of (model)trains-, making newsletters -about (model)trains-, making a website -yep, about modeltrains. Oh, forgot to mention: playing the piano, and that has nothing to do with (model)trains :)))

Other hobbies for me include sleeping and eating. I am passionate about both. I also have started helping out on track on the local friendly neighborhood tourist railroad.

I head up the Forage and Turf department for a Midwestern farm cooperative. I've spent 26 years working with farmers in IL, IA, & WI. I don't tell them that I grew up in the Chicago suburbs.
