In my attempt keep two engines from decoupling, I have try gluing the couplers together. The drawback is that its hard to handle the engines, so I am trying a new method. I install a AZL coupler into a GP35. I used one of Robert Ray pilot conversions to attach the coupler. The AZL coupler box is a little bigger then the MTL coupler box, so the pilot was modified. So far, it is doing the job. No uncoupling has happend since the couplers was change. Why AZl coupler. I find the AZL is less likely to uncouple then MTL, and that makes it perfect to couple two engines.
Henrik, cool Job with the light! What happends with the front window? Was it an accident with a elk (moose)?
HAHA not an moose but some cows! No seriously, this is my first attempt so some things went wrong i am planning to place this car further back on the layout. Jeff, for the road i use cardboard and sp lark dark gray and i finish it with a indian inc and Testors dullocoate.
I’m not necessarily new to trainboard; but this is my first post. I’ve been lurking for quite a while and thought I’d finally contribute something, so here it is. Yeah it’s a house, roughly based on a company house that was on some branch line of the East Broad Top (I think?), it was featured a couple issues ago in The Narrow Gage and Short line Gazette (my house wasn't featured but the one I based it off of was).
Hi Jalles, Welcome to Trainboard! That is a very nice house you built. We would love to see more pictures of your excellent work!
Jalles, Awesome, If it is Z it is unbelievable and flawless. Please post more pics. and some info on how you built it. Is it made in brass wood? The details and paint are very sharp. I have been building something similar, but not even close to what you have. Kim
Very nice detail. But if it takes you that long to build one house, how are you going to build a whole community and layout? Kidding. yeah please, more details of the method and materials. We often take pictures while we build something new, especially if a new technique. Loren in you area will have you running a module in no time ! Welcome aboard !
Yep, the AC interruption made me feel disabled, so I got all the motivation to do something after the power was back. Thanks for helping fix the AC. Kim
Wow Kim, that new 1.5" lens sure lets you cut real fine lines now! I gotta get me one of those! I could use one of those grading sheds for my platform too! They look great!
Thanks for all the kind words guys, considering all the fine work I see here I feel honored. I guess I should have said it was laser cut, so unfortunately no new construction techniques really. It assembles just like any other laser cut kit. I’ve scratch built about a half dozen structures and decided it would be impossible to get everything done I wanted . So instead of buying a bunch of AZL engines I decided to get a laser.
Kim, I don't know what your talking about, your work is unbelievable! I’m actually in the same club as Loren and he showed us your bobber caboose and Roberts fire tower and I was floored. Simply amazing stuff! Surely inspirational. The logging platform you just posted is a perfect example, the detail is so fine you wouldn’t think it could be Z. As far as materials for my project I’m sure you’re familiar with it all, 1/64 and 1/32 birch plywood with some cut paper shingles.
That makes 3 of us in this thread alone with lasers now. :shade: What are you using for shingles? I have been making mine from brown craft paper, printed with an old inkjet then laser cut, but mine look like wood shakes, and I want to do some composition shingles like yours. They look great!
