I have a blue lettered version in the basement. FAR better shape....no missing parts, no rust, couple of scratches...it was probably C-3 or C-4 when I got it 30 some odd years ago, and I paid I think $7.50 for it...maybe $10. I never paid more than $10 for any 6464, including the one Rutland I have. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-POST...724?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51d46dc94c An el cheapo car to begin with, having dummy couplers and light weight plastic body. As a bonus, rusty wheels. Fifty cents, anyone?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...386?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2355400552 A few cents for parts. Otherwise......
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...037?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item280328006d C-6? With parts missing it can't be any more than C-4.
That guy in Arizona has been the subject of many, many of the postings on this thread. He gets junk, classifies it high, some poor slob might just buy it. I've got probably a half dozen of those 027 size cars, and highest I ever paid was ten bucks (my limit), usually 5-7.50. IF he had bothered to buy new doors, and IF it had the loading dock, and IF it had the RCS section, and IF it had the milk cans, MAYBE the asking price. Wasn't this the guy with the GG1 with the stripes worn clear off and battery corrosion damage on the nose? Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIONEL-TRAI...2-VERY-NICE-/171869929749?hash=item28043f0115 Seems a bit pricey to me.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CIRCA-1950S...412?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1ea1bef9ac Surprise! A good starting price.
Considering that's exactly top dollar for them. Thumbtack couplers on plastic trucks, no stack, no ladders, no toolboxes, no lights, not even any screws, rather cheap metal tabs fold over the end platforms (three times if you're lucky before they break). The real problem is eleven bucks in shipping makes this bottom of the line piece something you pay at least 10X what it's dollar value is. Opinion. Dave
The only item worth anything (to me) is the 6462 gon with metal PT-1 trucks. The others are cheap 027, holes in the floor for riveting the plastic trucks to the shell. Total value, pushing it hard, fifteen INCLUDING shipping or all three. Opinion. Dave
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-6656...auge-Trains-/311410517936?hash=item48818367b0 Wow. Another listing with a good start price! And the shipping is even reasonable. Is something in the air today?

http://www.dakotapaul.com/items/showitem.asp?iid=3804 Compared, engine here is REALLY nice, and has all the original boxes. Listed for $5250. Compare: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lionel-Post...285?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item28034ede9d BIN of $750, no boxes. I won't touch these sets, as people just get stupid believing these are some kind of Lionel Holy Grail of collecting. The trash collectors association always says there are folks out there with the money to spend. I think it's all that keeps them going, hoping this cra....errr...stuff keeps selling high to keep the value of their personal cra...errr...stuff high. I watched them while I was in that organization for one year...it was all about recording high sales and pointing to yours that was better (or worse) that was suddenly, miraculously worth that amount of money. Shell Game. Opinion. Dave
They've managed to do a great job of keeping this stuff propped up in price, for a long time. Eventually it will reach a point..... I always think about what happened to the N scale Kadee/Micro-Trains market, and how it has so severely ebbed from where it was in the late 1980's, to mid-1990's. That will happen to Lionel. I remember the bidding at live Lionel auctions in the Pacific NW. WHile some kitems worked their way up, I do not recall many pieces which actually ever got to the high, highs. Past member TCA and TTOS. Not unhappy. Just past.
Yeah...past. TCA, TTOS, LOTS, and who knows what other ones I joined back then. Tea Toss and Lots were good, other than the national Tea Toss that killed it off. Trash Collectors.....just too much GOB BS. (good ol' boys you get the rest). You read the York reports, same guys haul the same u-haul load of junk in every year, marked at uber-prices, haul it back home again.
Oh yes. I know all about the GOB Factor. I used to see the haul in-haul out every year at local shows. I was a very frequent seller of N scale, regularly sharing tables with a couple of long time friends. It was interesting walking by those tinplate tables, along with everyone else who was ignoring. Meanwhile, people were packed in front of our tables.

Great addition to your collection. Great addition to your home. Item has not been power tested. This is a vintage item. Don't miss out!” Don't miss out my hindquarters. 16 starting bid (oh, and we hope it goes MUCH higher) and six fifty to ship. And it's missing that rare, vintage railing set off one end. Parts. Cheap. Opinion. Dave
