Actually the real ones were done that way. I recall looking at one many years ago and it had angle iron or flat metal ladder side rails with round metal handrails welding on top. So you should probably cut off the others and make them all replacements!! :>) ....dave
A couple more detail parts to add, and some sliding windows on the cupola sides and this model will be ready to take up it's place on the back of some high speed piggybacks.
Jerry - I didn't look at this thread until just now (you, modelling 1995, I don't pay much attention to cabeese... ...) Anyway, it looks great!
Alright, some of the last details were installed and painted. Cupola window wipers, side sliding windows, and wind deflectors.
If I would have known that this 'Junk' caboose was going to turn out this nice, I would have got one of those lighting kits that give the red light on the back. Since the shell was filed and glued to the MT frame, I am going to have to find some jewels or MV lenses for this one. Here's a couple more looks, in service......
I did find some red jewels I had, so to make the marker lights I started with a BLMA air hose sprue. Painted the end silver.......
