They mix them here in western MD all the time, like John, I thought they would use one or the other, but it's pretty common to see a mixture around here.

I was bored, so I took a picture of my C44 with the newly installed signals.

    CSX RULES

John, you know CSX is the king. Damn right. It's THEE bomb baby. Looking good
John. But you know what? I and probably a whole lotta others would like to see
some more up- close overhead, side, and front shots of your GP-40 built by Dave F.

The more I look at your GP-40 the more I want one. As a matter of fact I am thinking
about a trade. A AZL Tunnel motor undecorated plain brass shell for a built up
    GP-40 built by Dave F.

    Thanks Jurg.

Harold, what are you doing thinking about it. I wouldn't even think about. I would jump at the chance of getting a GP40. Remember, there is only 3 GP40, and one of them is missing.

    A beautiful machine

John, such a beautiful creature. She is so elegant, such a classy lady. I really envy you
bud-d-d. That rooftop shot, wow. I can hear those fans spinning.

JOHN thanks for the pics. Anytime you want to sell it let me know first.
I'll give you a standing offer of $500. No joke.

harold, it's a couple of pieces of plastic. it's not worth $500 or a tunnel motor. i'll build you one, just give me time. jurg asked too, so i'll do them together. they take a lot of finish work and time is not what i have an abundance of. a little here and a little there and i can get it done.

what happens is that i over-commit on such projects and don't save any time for myself to enjoy the hobby. i love making kitbashes as a stress reliever, not a stress inducer. so i'm trying not to do as much "extra" stuff anymore. believe it or not, the SD70ACe was MUCH easier kitbash than the GP40. you wouldn't think so. but cutting the chassis and getting it together right, so it runs as smooth as before is a big part of the challenge. the SD70 chassis didn't have to be messed with.

this is one i wish could be resin cast. but i have an SD45 i'd like to cast too, and working on an SD9, but all these one has to do when one can get to them. on the one hand, it's what's fun about this hobby; on the other hand, there will never be enough GP40s (or whatever) to go around, until MTL or AZL or ??? company makes them.

i'd love a tunnel motor, but i wouldn't sleep at night trading it for a kitbashed shell!! and after a while neither would you. ha ha ha.

now let's see, this is February, spring weddings coming up. funerals you can never tell; away most of June and July. hhhmmm. now about next February. just kidding.

Dave Seriously, You will build me one? Man i an over joyed at that good news.
What would you like for compensation? If you want the tunnel motor shell its yours.
would I have to supply shells and chassis? Dave PM me for all of the details.

I always wanted a Rougue GP38, but I was put off by the running characteristics. Early this year, Fred Ladd gave me a GP38 shell, but the shell is too tight to fit in a GP35 chassis. Fortunatly, Tim mill the shell for me. Now its time to paint the shell. I was not a fan of the dark blue sheme, but I am warming up to it. This is the GP38 with the GP35 chassis. The truck centers are wrong, but I guess it will have to do until I get some SD40 worm gears.

This is the shell after the installation of the pilot masking of the white cab roof. I am also painted the shell with the new image gold. Note the hooks for the cut levers.

This is the shell after the installation of the railings. This is probably the most tedious part of the kitbash. Lots of drilling of small holes and test fitting. By the way, the railings are stainless steels made by Micronarts. They also included some very nice fan etchings.

The engine is almost finish. I still need to install the window glazing and fiber optics, but is mostly minor stuff. At least I can run it now.

Is that front pilot home made? Or is that how the shell came? I like the look of it.

Thank you guys. I am glad you like it.

Joe, the pilot is made from a sheet of styrene. I just trace the outline of the front and cut it out. I also used the photo of a BLMA pilot as a guide.

    Drop Dead Gorgeous

Damn John, She is fine as red wine. masterful job. That scheme really looks good as long as the blue is navy blue. If the blue is any lighter I don't care for it.
I have some GP38 shells that I will paint in that scheme.

Hey John, you recently purchased a E&D models hopper off Epray. How do you like it?
Buy the kits. Man you don't know what you are missing. Take some pictures of your
    Epray purchase and post them.

Harold, the hopper runs great considering how light it it. It even goes through switches in push mode. I would like to get at least couple of the three bay hoppers, but I didnt think they are available yet. Is funny you ask for a picture. I thought I posted one already. Man, I must be getting old. LOL

I am adding some finishing touches to the GP38. The window glazing, lights, cut levers are installed. Now I need to convert the GP35 fuel tanks to give it a GP38 look.
