Have to agree with Tudor on this one, We will all miss him here, but he has left and all we can do is say thanks for everything he did for us all. No sense in making it harder on everyone else.
Lets just make sure we keep the thread civil, as it has been so far.
Bob, if you should happen to be lurking, Good Luck and take care. Keep up the excellent modeling and please continue to help the poor helpless newbies(like me:eek:mg:)

If you're out there reading Bob, I'll add my voice to those encouraging a return. I always valued your feedback and advice.

I think the "take my ball and go home" reference is unwarranted and should be reserved for those who make flaming public exits from forums like this; letting the world know how a) mistreated they are or b) they've suddently decided they no longer have time or need for something that they were previously very active in.

Too bad the moderators didnt lock this one up early. Nothing good can come out of this thread.

Bob left Trainboard...big deal. Like someone else said, people leave they're jobs, churches, etc... I left the staff, who cares? Reasoning doesn't result in positive things.

Agreed! With all due respect to the moderators, we aren't looking for answers, just expressing our shock and upset. Bob IS our friend! He has been extremely helpful and uplifting to those of us who are less advanced in this hobby that we spend a tremendous amount of time and money on.

But of course, we are only getting one side of the story...the admins on this site have a zero tolerance policy for those who don't march lockstep with them and have a tendancy to make them vanish...something tells me that were Bob able to tell us his reasons for leaving, we would side with him....'nuff said.....

    Still in shock.
Glad to have had access to PSG/Bob's experience and opinions.
Wish him and his and the JJJ&E all the best.
How about one for the road?:

Look guys, he left. It's time to get over it. Members come and go so don't get too upset. He gave out some good advice but there are many others here just as talented. As i tell my employees, everybody can be replaced, if your not a team player on my team, your not on my team.

Members come and go on all forums, some take or delete all their post like it was said "take their toys and go home" or what I call oh poor me than they come back and lurk and get off on all the nice things being said about them. Plain selfish stunt if you ask me. He will pull the same stunt at other forums when he don't get his way, Gentlman there is a pattern here.

It seems that the few had issues with Bob have made themselves known in this thread in one way or another.I'm not interested in petty gripes or personal politics.
Very poor form to bag someone, especially when they can't defend themselves.
I come to this forum to learn new things & ask questions.
All I know is Bob dispensed very useful, informative & experienced advice freely & often.I know I valued his opinions very highly along with alot of other members.Whats wrong with stating those facts?

Anyone know any other forums hes on? I have a yillion questions on DCC and Steam locos I have in my collection to ask...

He is without doubt, the biggest loss this board has had in a long time.

I think Jason said it best

    Jack,
You are certainly welcome to your opinion, but I disagree. and I defend my statement.
He did not just leave quietly, but he first deleted photos and blogs, edited posts, etc. I consider that "take my ball and go home" and poor form.
also, not sure who wrote the words "permently dispached" is 1) like others said, sounds like he died, when he did not 2) adds to the poor me effect to let eveyone know about it and almost ask for a thread like this. if he just quietly went away, stopped posting, that would have been better. as I'm sure he let his close friends here know what was up.

    I agree with you Route66:

and "to bag" someone as Jason said.
well, when he was a moderator, you could not even try discuss anything, because it got locked WAY to early. and without a good explination. which just looked bad for the board.

And don't get me wrong, I don't hate Bob, I would not want to see him gone/banned, etc from TB.
I think Bob had a lot good info and knowledge to share, etc. he was a valuable member.
however, I did think he was not a person to be a moderator as I experienced his misuse of power a couple times.
Bob had a big personaility, big ego at times, much like his forum screen name (powersteamguy1790). sometimes he is very opinionated and in email and writing in forums, one has to be careful how they write as you can not hear "tone" and it is easy to express an incorrect "tone" into what you write. at times, it was like "this was the word of god" the only way and that is all to be said about the subjet. that is where I had problems with him. with his attitude at times.
But like I said, I would have never wished for him to leave. he was a very knowledgable member.

I'm beginning to regret having posted a heads up here in the first place.

I had some discussions with Bob, where we disagreed on line and he always had a positive redirect or response for me. That's something to think about. Anything I wrote here...I never meant it personally as in an affront to him and expressed such to him both here and in private communications. Thanks to Bob my GS4 is running as it should, I wired my layout in preparation for DCC and his advice saved me hours of work. And when we disagreed he never deleted me or suggested I pull my post. We agreed to disagree.

I would rather see this thread support the good things he did and end up being a Salute to Bob. A "We will remember you well and thanks for all the good advice". But, then I'm not in control here and I do believe in free speech. So say what you will and allow me to do the same.

No one is perfect and has all the answers and I remember him communicating such to me. He once said, "Together we have over 100 years of experience and we should be able to figure it out between us".

"Get Over It"? I will get over it when I am good and ready and I don't need anyone here or anywhere else to tell me.

He is one of the good guys. He chose to leave for whatever reason and unless he reveals it to us it's not my problem and may I suggest or yours. What else is there to say?

Ben, should you need someone to spar with....you can spar with me anytime and that goes for the rest of you. Remembering to keep it in fun guys and gals. Now back to the layout and the dirty track....I hate cleaning!

    Please let me explain.

"Permanently dispatched" is just a category for banned users. It means Trainboard will not entertain a plea for reinstatement.

After Bob resigned, he was banned so that he could not delete any other posts or threads. Moderators have the power to delete threads. When a person accepts a Moderator post, he agrees not to delete threads or posts when he resigns.

Bob deleted his blog and Railimages album prior to resigning. That's a fact. And that's really all there is to it. The matter is private and will remain so.

:lightbulb:it might be a good idea? to change "Permanently dispatched" to "BANNED" or "banned member" as most all other forums use.

As for having a thread of only saying good things (BarstowRick's post (two above)). I disagree.
If you tell your children, friends, family members, employees, etc only the good things, and never the bad, they can never learn from it.
That is the problem these days with too much PC (Political Correctness).
To only say good things and never anything bad means there is never any learning, never any constructive critisim, etc.

As I think about it, Maybe rather than saying "bad things", "constructive critisim" is a better term to use.

However, I will say in the case of someone "passing away" or dying.
In that case, then there is NO case for saying anything bad or constructive about them, as once the person is gone of this earth/human body, then it's time to leave it alone, it's done.
But that is not the case here.
