"Before I Die" and the Afterwards. I agree with Pete Nolan. What? Uh, Kozmo I'm wondering when you last attended a funeral. I've spent more years then I cared to, as a working funeral director. I've heard or seen it all or so it would seem. Since many funerals now invite members of the family, friends and/or attendees up to the front for "Sharing Time" anything is possible. I've heard people vent their rath and anger at a husband, father, mother...I think you get my drift....along with all the good stuff. No holes bared seems to be the name of the game. Ahh me too on the...Edited add on: Please reread my statement to keep things in context. "I do believe in free speech....so say what you will and...". Just a little sparing...and Kozmo your opinion counts...too! I'm done. Now, I need to get back to trains and all the fun @rrgh!
huh? wow, you are way off track. confused. well, yes, I'm sure people do that at funerals - none I have attended, but I'm sure those things happen. but talking about that is taking this way off track. but in your previous post. you said you didn't think anyone should say anything "bad" about him or anyone that is no longer a member here. I was making my point that there is a good reason to in this case. as constructive critisizm can be good if the person decides to accept it and it is fair. As for my comment about if someone dies that being a different case. I stand by my opinion. If Bob had passed away. I would not have said anything negitive or "constructive". as I think that is in bad taste. at that point, the person is gone, why say anything negitive. Do people do it a a furneral? well, I suppose they do. but that is taking this way off track.
Let's get back on track here. The thread is about Bob's resignation from Trainboard. It's not about funerals or anyone dying. These are the facts: Bob resigned from Trainboard. He deleted his blog and Railimages album prior to his resignation. In agreeing to be a moderator, Bob agreed not to delete threads or posts. He was "permanently dispatched" so that he could no longer delete threads or posts. That is the sum of it. It is a private matter and will remain so. This thread is starting to meander into other areas that have nothing to do with the original topic. If you have an opinion here, let's keep it on track.
Did you mean what I thought? So much for done. And, that's what I said. Kozmo you miss quoted me. I didn't say "bad", well I did now. Confused, not at all. Yes off track as we aren't talking about trains or giving Bob a high five in all that he did here. I do appreciate the principal by which you voiced regarding a persons life after they have passed. I too, believe a persons life should speak for itself in the memories of those who knew them. However, it does happen and even the media gets into the ______ (fill in the blank with any expletive and it will be correct) "Bad" things. There, now I said it. Also, learning from things that go wrong as in "I wish I hadn't done that" when expressed to children and some adults I know, can be a learning experience. Sometime it's necessary to use such when teaching consequences to our actions. Now, am I still confused? Kozmo you are ok with me and your opinions count. Keep bringing your ideas and thoughts here. On the fun side feel free to spar with me anytime. Happy trains!
This thread has nothing to do with the enjoyment or education of this hobby. This thread is about someone who simply decided on his own to leave, for whatever reason. Why this has become a topic of debate and some tense words, is beyond me. If someone wants to know about what happened then it should have been taken care of via email or a PM. I am confident that the TB staff will direct this thread in a positive direction, or lock it if deemed neccesary.
I think we mods and admins work in mysterious ways.:teeth: It's not so mysterious at all. There's about 25 of us, and we do discuss issues behind the scenes. Not every moderator is a farty old man (59) like me. We're all volunteers. We take our assignments seriously, and try to build a better community. Sometimes a public debate is good, if painful. I believe this debate is worthwhile. I'm not sure how I could have "handled it properly." Closing the thread was really not an option. Bob resigned from Trainboard. He deleted his blog and Railimages ablum prior to resigning. These actions happened. If TB members ask me why they are getting the dreaded red x's instead of images on Bob's posts, I need to answer them truthfully. Bob deleted the images, so you get the dreaded red x's. That's the sum of it.
ok, true. While I admit you did not say we should not say bad things. IMO, you implied that we should not say bad things about him, when you said IMO, your statement seems more fitting for someone who died than for someone who left, and left after deleting info, photos, etc. Yes, that info and photos were his, and he probably has every right to do so, but IMO it's poor sportmanship (there might be a better word?) in my book. again, just my opinion. as for this all not being about trains? well, it is about TrainBoard and members of and past, how we behave as a member and info and photos, and the forum, etc. in a way it's all part of maintianing and running trains in someway at least when it comes to discussing it in an online forum. I guess just where you personally draw the line. Good Luck!
It might be well known for some, and might be eye opener for others that a lot of discussion goes on behind the scenes in PM (private messages). and That goes for all kinds of forums - trains, planes, cars, etc. a lot of people just don't want to speak out about things in public, are afraid to, or don't want to take the flak nor time for speaking their mind in the public forum.
Yes, but I can't wait to see the sequel coming out this summer, the working title "The Empire Builder Strikes Back" Sorry guys I had to add that I work in the film business. Just a little humor.
LOL...LOL...LOL... Now see what we went and did Kozmo. Let's see consequences of our actions...right? Oh and nice response! Actually I think Bob would get a big old heehooraugh out of this. Lot's of chuckles in Big Bear Lake, CA. Model Railroading since 1959.
Aw shucks, Kozmo . . . . derailed? It's more like a huge 250,000 ton oil supertanker in the process of piling into a bridge abuttment in Omaha, Nebraska: Way off course, a big mess, and I'm NOT going to be the one to clean it up. These News-Flash Posts have been brought to you by TrainBoard. We now resume our regularly scheduled programming, already in progress: "Permanently Dreaming of Trains".
Bob always seemed like a good guy. I sometimes would rag on him over his use of groundfoam and his ever present tag-line in even the shortest of posts, but those are small in the grand scheme of things. Being decent is more important than the unique way we choose to model. Stay cool and just run steam somewhere else, sometimes...:shade::shade:
If I start seeing supertankers on the Missuori River, I'm going to check out who spiked my Kool-Aidmg:
hmm 1) friscobob 2) Age: 50 3) ??? Kool-Aid at age 50 ??? You live in jonestown? LOL
